Tapio Wirkkala originally designed these bowls in the 1960s as an interpretation of melting ice on a snow-covered Finnish island. Execution of the design required hundreds of hours working between Wirkkala and the Iittala glassblowers, and Finnair, the Finnish Airline, used Ultima Thule glassware for their first class service in the 1960s. Still perfect for dessert, salad or appetizers.
